Ruby Zhai

Silversmith & Jewellery Designer

Ruby Zhai is a silversmith and jewellery designer, graduating from the Silversmithing & Jewellery programme at the Glasgow School of Art.

Specialising in silverware, contemporary jewellery, and interdisciplinary creative practice, Ruby has a particular focus on the traditional techniques of Chasing & Repoussé. Their work has been recognised by the Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council (GC&DC), and has been exhibited internationally, with pieces held in the collection of the Vienna Tourist Board.

Their practice spans jewellery, objects, installation, and experience design, exploring the relationships between craftsmanship, materials, and sensory experience. They are skilled in a wide range of traditional metalworking techniques, including soldering, forging, chasing, surface texturing, and metal forming.

Through relaxed and engaging workshops, Ruby aims to introduce more people to the craft of jewellery making, encouraging participants to experience the beauty of working with metal and create a unique piece of their own.
