Crystal (Qianyi Zhu)

Fine Art Practitioner · Artist & Workshop Facilitator
Qianyi Zhu is a Fine Art practitioner and workshop facilitator with a background in contemporary art practice and visual communication. She trained in design and fine art practice in Macau, China and the UK, and has developed a multidisciplinary studio practice across printmaking, painting, and experimental materials.
She has extensive experience teaching children, beginners, and mixed-ability groups, and is skilled in delivering structured yet playful creative sessions that support confidence, imagination, and independent thinking. Her teaching covers a wide range of techniques, including drawing, watercolour, coloured pencil, printmaking (such as foam board printing, screen printing, and simple etching methods), as well as craft-based and mixed-media activities.
Her teaching approach is patient, encouraging, and process-focused. She places emphasis on exploration rather than fixed outcomes, helping children to enjoy making, discover materials, and build creative confidence at their own pace. She is experienced in adapting lessons to different age groups and learning styles, creating a supportive and welcoming environment where children feel comfortable to express their ideas.
Alongside her teaching practice, she is also an active exhibiting artist, with work shown in the UK and internationally, including Fronteer Gallery (Sheffield), Six Foot Gallery, MacGregor Fine Art, Annex Gallery (Glasgow), as well as group exhibitions in China including Wuhan, Macao, and Beijing. This ongoing studio practice informs her teaching, bringing contemporary art perspectives into accessible and engaging workshop experiences.
